Inntopia Commerce + Shift4 Payments®

Note: As of November 12, 2025, Inntopia will no longer support new implementations of the legacy Universal Transaction Gateway (UTG) version of the Shift4 integration. Inntopia will continue to support existing integrations of the UTG version until such time as those integrations are migrated to the newer REST-based API version.

Only new implementations of the Shift4 REST integration will be supported going forward. Differences between the two versions are indicated throughout this Help topic.

The Inntopia + Shift4 Payments integration uses Access Token credentials to securely process credit card information. In addition, it supports subsequent credit card charges on the same card to facilitate deposit schedules typically used in the travel industry.

As an online user or agent works through the checkout path, they are required to enter credit card information on the Billing Info screen. When a credit card is entered into the Inntopia system (either online in eComm or through Inntopia CRS), Inntopia initially validates the card and then makes a call to Shift4 to tokenize the credit card number. The tokenized credit card number is then stored in the Inntopia database.

Note: Credit Card Authorization Service Cutoff Time: Credit card transactions are recorded as of the local date and time for all CRS users. Change the time specified as the daily batch cutoff with your credit card authorization service.
